Practice aspiration with a tissue: b/p, d/t, g/k. Learn j/q/x with the tongue forward; zh/ch/sh with it curled slightly back. Contrast nǐ and nǚ.
Your first survival skill is keeping a conversation going when the reply is unfamiliar.
A repair phrase buys you another attempt. 慢 means slow; 再 means again. Learn the whole request, then notice which piece changes the job.
When you do not understand — complete guided explanation
Completion records effort; quiz results measure recognition. Neither proves conversational fluency. Use the interactive trainer for review scheduling and saved progress.
Subject → time → place → action → object. Say who, when, where, then what happens. Not every sentence uses all five.
